An extra fish to eat

November 2nd, 2008, under ,

For some reason, I proceeded to read today’s Dilbert by not processing the panels in a left-to-right top-to-bottom sequence, but instead top-to-bottom left-to-right.

Once I reached the end of the strip I thought that Adams’s punch line was somewhat weaker than usual (and they haven’t been that strong to begin with in the past… let’s see… ten years?). The funny thing, though, was that it sort of makes sense, and I think that the transition from panel 5 to 6 (or 3 to 7, as in the original) is some of Adams’s best writing.

Go ahead, try it. The first panel starts “Where are”, the second “I’m not going to eat it.”, and the third one “I’m going to microwave it”. You should be able to figure out the rest.
