A List of Online Board Games

July 10th, 2007, under , , ,

Those interested in board games may want to check out this list of freeware board games that come with computer players, enabling you to play board games either online or on your computer through a software download. Many popular games are listed, including Carcassonne, Metro, St Petersburg, Puerto Rico, Lost Cities, Tigris & Euphrates and around a hundred others.

The computer opponents are not always as strong as you would probably like them to be, but some of the online/software board games on that list are actually quite tough to beat.

In the end, the primary function of board games that you can download and/or play online either against computer or human opponents is really to evaluate those games before you purchase the real physical copy. Or at least I personally prefer the social aspect in these games. It is just so much more fun to lose to someone you can throw the box at than to an opponent named “Bot2″.

Anyway, I’m off to play one more Metro game before I’m off to sleep. I think it’ll be the fifth “one more game before I’m off to bed” in a row. Let me know if you manage to beat five “aggressive” computer opponents.
