Britannica strikes back

Encyclopedia Britannica has, according to the BBC, hit back at the findings published in Nature last year, according to which Wikipedia is about as accurate as Encyclopedia Britannica.

I must say that when I read about the study back in December, it did seem a bit too unscientific to really be able to say anything significant at all. That said, I do like Wikipedia myself, and use it daily as a quick reference.

The English part of Wikipedia now officially has more than one million articles (compare that with Encyclopedia Britannica’s mere 120,000). Although one can definitely argue about the quality of most of those articles, I personally think that the project is one of the best things that has happened to the Internet.
