Well, at least in the chimp world. According to the study reported at Live Science the reason why male chimps don’t have a preference for younger females is that chimp women don’t go through menopause, and don’t bother with partnerships, so they are reproductive longer. As for why the older is actually better, this is not entirely clear yet.
Westerns have more sexual partners
A study reported by the BBC shows that those living in the western world have on average more sexual partners than those living in the developing countries. This perhaps goes somewhat against the picture painted by AIDS many reports that sometimes seem to all but suggest that many African countries are like huge Playboy mansions where anything goes.
In reality, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine researches suggest that “factors such as poverty and mobility had more of a role in sexually transmitted infections than promiscuity had”.
